Hacking on Rd.io at Spotify - Continuous Game Plan

This is part of my experience when I attended the Spotify NYC hackathon, way back in the day.

I showed up on time for the hackathon to check out the environment and see who else would show up. Friends that say that would show up may not always show up because “things come up” - especially on a Friday night in NYC. 😏

So, I always put my game plan when I arrive and continuously adjust as the hackathon progress.

Things that affect the game plan:

  • who else is there?
  • do I know anyone else?
  • can I meet new people?
  • what other people are working on?
  • what APIs are available?
  • what my mood is in?
  • previous hacks? (FOR INSPIRATION ONLY!!! 😅)
  • what looks interesting to me?
  • what is just out of my capability to implement from now to the end of the hackathon?
  • do I need a break or get back to hacking?

I am continuously evaluating this list of items in any order during the hackathon. Results can dramatically change the direction I am taking.

Next, I start the game,
