Hacking on Rd.io at Spotify - Starting the Game

This is part of my experience when I attended the Spotify NYC hackathon, way back in the day.

After settling in a bit after the Spotify NYC hackathon started, I started checking out the APIs available. Sponsors play a large part in hackathons and always give a prize, leading to recognition.

The obvious choice for an API to use at the Spotify hackathon would be: Spotify!

That was the plan, until I checked out the Spotify API. I couldn’t connect to the API right away and looked for help. There should be a Spotify developer evangelist at the Spotify NYC hackathon, right?

I did find them and response I got from them was basically to:

Welp - I tried again and still couldn’t get things going with the API. It was weird.

I checked in with other people and they mentioned the same thing: they couldn’t use the API and the Spotify developer evangelist just told them to read the documentation.
