Leap of Faith: Lift
One of the coolest things that happened when I took a leap of faith and camped in the desert for a week: i met a stranger at an airport and drove with them to the desert.
My original plan was to go alone, based on guidance from a friend that’s also attending. A friend’s friend needed a lift and the timing worked out that I could give them a lift as well.
That person is one of the coolest person I met and they taught me so much about life (and camping in the desert - because they did it before too.)
The cooler part is that I met this person outside of the desert too - stayed at their place, met their family. Things I would never expect to do with a person I just met at an airport.
I still remember the first time we talked - this was at a time when people use phones, portable ones - and I wanted them to call me to confirm I’m not crazy.
The time-zone difference between was 12hrs and they called me when I was out on the town with friends.
At that moment I hear their voice, I knew things were really happening. Even those around me were asking: who are you talking to?! Why are you talking to them now while you’re out with us?!
Little did I know, that person would be an important guide for an exciting stage of my life.
