DHH - Keeping Things Real
I admire DHH, David Heinemeier Hannson, for creating Ruby on Rails, a framework that I appreciate because it helped me get back into programming after being out of the game for so long (and the world changed out in front of me.)
One thing I admire more about DHH is that even with the success of Ruby on Rails, he stayed close to the users, the use cases, the code. He never became an architect astronaut where the direction of the framework became set by a committee, which is typical of almost any successful technical framework or standard.
Even looking at the Rails World 2023 Keynote, I’m amazed at the new features DHH announced for Ruby on Rails. The new version is getting me excited to play and work with it again.
All this while DHH is running a company, racing cars at one of the highest levels, deciding and coding Ruby on Rails’ future.
After reading Rework by Jason Fried and David Heinemeier Hansson, DHH, I admire DHH even more. The advice given on creating a company is fantastic and I see his company following the philosophies from the book. Those philosophies are making me reconsider the values I want in my company, the clients we serve, and who we have joint the company.
As I begin my journey as business owner, DHH influences it again!
Thanks for keeping things real DHH, I really admire it!
