Manager's Job: Change
Another lesson from a recent manager training was:
A manager’s job is to rapidly implement positive changes
I whole heartedly agree with this. Business is brutal, with all the internal commotion along with external partners, competition, and up starts - one needs to continuously change.
I implement changes frequently. So frequent that my team will tell me to stop changing things. That was surprising.
I hold back on changes now. I haven’t figured out a good balance of change. I also believe top down level change is different than a bottom up level change.
That’s my next goal - find bottom up level changes that improve the team.
