Fix Scope by Controlling Who You Hire

My team has been in hiring mode for most of this year. So I have been thinking about hiring too.

When I wrote waterfall vs agile, I was thinking about the role of scope in both methodology and hiring.

In an agile environment, if you give the same problem to a team with just data analysts and to one with just data scientists, the solution to the problem will differ wildly (ideally, both will lead to the same result.)

Hence, one can control scope by selecting who to give the problem to.

Take this to another level: if you control the skills of data scientists or data analysts on those teams, you can get different results as well. Hire for specific skill sets, you will most likely get results using those skills.

In essence, in an agile environment: you can fix scope by controlling who is on the team.
