New Manager - Raise and Promotion Request: Alignment

This is a continuation of a series - the first article is here

For any request to promote or raise a salary of a team member, you will need evidence - the stronger this evidence is of your team member’s results, the higher likelihood of the desired outcome.

This requires your team member to work with you to build the evidence by producing significant results.

What does that mean?

It would require for you to understand the results expected of you - then working with your team member on achieving part of those results.

This is where your team member’s desire (raise or promotion) and the company’s desire (significant results) align.

If one of these are off balance, then it will not work. Either the team member takes from the company like it’s a charity or the company treats team members like slaves.

Neither is a good situation - no matter the arrangement.

The next thing to do is encourage the team member to build relationships.
