Red Green Repeat Adventures of a Spec Driven Junkie

Defeating the Comparison Monster

When I grew up, my parents compared me to others, a lot. So much that it felt “normal” to compare me with others, me with my siblings, me with my parents, others with others, etc.

Comparison is a scientific way - it’s a well known method and expected.

After a series of coaching where I dived deep into my issues, I discovered comparing myself with others is a source of disempowerment in myself.

Why?

When I compare another person’s results with my own results, I am taking away their humanity - by extension, my own too!

What’s the alternative?

The alternative is to embrace others - love them and their results, no matter how it compares to yours, better or worse or neutral.

Comparisons rob us of our humanity - restore humanity and love everything.
