Irreversible Career Mistakes
I learned from poor career choices in my life. All of them are because of poor understanding of the context or even how I relate other people.
With enough time and reflection, all poor choices are important life lessons.
Problem is in the moment of those choices, the result is irreversible.
One such irreversible result such as a poor performance review.
The easiest way to correct for an irreversible career mistake like poor performance review is to leave the company. The other is the hard, it will take over a year to correct with a lot of hard work (and luck if no other corrective action happens before.)
Even with both - as long as the company has a record (and they do keep great records!) that result is irreversible on your career.
In a way, I wish I had guidance on my career before these things happened. They’re all avoidable because it’s happened to others and I’ve also coached others through the same problem.
