Coffee Tasting - New Beans

I never realized how important the “tasting environment” is to judge different coffee beans. I thought coffees were all the same, even when black - now I have a consistent environment to evaluate my coffees. Bean origin, roast levels, even preparation method.

Drinking different coffees in your normal coffee routine is the best way to judge different coffee beans/styles/roasts/etc.

This “consistency” is crucial to differentiate.

A key to this consistency is to have the new coffee just as if you were to have you usual cup.

If you drink your coffee in the morning, drink new coffee beans in the morning, that way you can compare against your old coffee beans.

When you taste is crucial, because the consistency helps you objectively critique your taste, which is subjective.

When you drinke coffee in the middle of the day out of “your coffee zone”, you just don’t taste coffee the same way.

If you want to evaluate new coffee beans against your old ones, don’t trust what you taste in the store in the middle of the day, drink the new coffee beans when you always get your coffee.
