A Great Person and Valuable Introduction

Wow, it’s been twenty years ago since we first met. I still remember that moment like yesterday.

I was attending a “After Burn” Burning Man event in Tokyo (yeah, crazy, right?!) and you were there already. I think you got there early and the number of English speaking Burners were almost non-existent.

When I showed up, that changed everything. I’m an “invisible foreigner” in Tokyo and when I spoke, your ears detected English and honed into my location quickly.

I loved that you were so welcoming, it was my first Burn and everything was overwhelming. I gave you my phone number and that’s all I remember from that night.

What I do remember is you calling days later - super unusual for me at the time - to follow up. I was glad you did because I had a better sense of who you were.

From there, I am so glad we became friends - it was the start of a beautiful friendship and numerous adventures.
