Can't Get Outta My Head
One advice I seem to get from my life coaches all the time:
You’re too in your head, get out of it and into your heart.
Ugh - as someone that works in the software and Internet industry, my profession rewards me for being in my head. My employer pays me to think all day long.
The problem with thinking all day long: I can’t stop thinking - I work overtime on an employer’s problem (which I secretly believe all knowledge worker employers know and love!)
As I solve problems using my head, I use the same technique for my life too.
That’s where I always end up going to see my coaches for help - I use my head too much and didn’t listen to my heart in making important life decisions.
Decisions important enough that they affect my livelihood.
At some point, I need to learn to make decisions on my own and falling into this: make bad decision, get help from coaches, do work to get out, cycle is not helpful in the long run.
As I move forward in my life - I have to remember to include my heart, that’s usually the advice my coaches give me, so why not just listen to my heart in the first place so I don’t get into trouble by my head??
That’s why I love Jam Writing - it’s the one tool my head trusts to get messages out of my heart in a way my head can take action on.
