Tropics Living: Continuous Growth
Hawaii is the first place I lived where there were no distinct seasons, especially winter.
The awesome thing about that is I can wear almost the same thing all year.
The awful thing about that is I can wear almost the same thing all year.
Another aspect I did not consider, only after taking care of the yard, is living in a place where there’s no winter is that:
Plants just keep on growing!
- This is great when you have plants that you want to grow all year.
- This is awful when you have plants that you don’t want to grow.
What does that mean for me?
Not having a winter where temperatures drop below 0C/32F means that I have to do yard work year round.
Ugh, and I hated doing yard work when it was just the summer - now I have to do yard work 365 days a year?!
🙄
I guess there are worse things that can happen - like staying inside all winter long because it’s so cold out.
Now I get to improve my gardening skills - because I will work on them all year instead of a couple of months, forget over the winter, and relearn everything when it’s growing season again. That’s the thing that got me all the time - winters made it easy to forget about gardens when they’re buried under 6 feet / 2 meters of snow.
Life in the tropics - continuous gardening!
