Misaligned with Company Mission
When I found my mission, I saw the world differently. I saw things as either helping me towards or away my mission. Things weren’t “good” or “bad”, they were going to help or not help.
I definitely saw company missions in a whole new light. The larger the company, the more generic the mission is.
That’s when I realize I did not reasonate with my company’s mission.
Of course, there’s more to the company’s mission than the statement, it’s the people in the company - who are part of the mission.
As I saw teammates, managers, peers, etc. through this new lens, I realize that well, everyone of them took a different perspective on the company’s mission and I did not share those who had passion for the mission.
When I realized this - it became harder to work. Harder to wake up early for those one-off meetings. Harder to stay late for those production fires. Harder to work over the holidays.
In essence, way harder to go the extra mile.
It was bad I found my mission, because now I basically demotivated myself out of my job.
It is great I found my mission, because now I motivated myself to find something that align with my mission.
One thing I wished thought this whole thing: I found my mission earlier.
