You can Never Go Home Again
Whenever I visit home after a period of time, I’m always amazed at:
- How much things change
- Ask: what is going on??
The saying: “You can never go home again” rings true here because of those two things.
- The memory I had of home did not change since I left - so I’m getting hit with all the changes since the last time all at once. It’s just mind-blowing the progress!
- The other is that I have changed too - my own experience shaped me, which did not involve home at all. My frame of reference is different now than the last visit.
I found the best approach to take when I go home again is to say I’m a visitor that know people. Have little expectations things stay the same, as they cannot because well, the world keeps moving on.
You can never go home again, you can definitely visit the place you used to live!
