Leadership is Language: Collaborative Questions with Kids (First Impressions)
These are notes from L. David Marquet’s book: Leadership is Language. The first set of notes start at understanding Red & Blue.
I changed my habit to start asking my children collaborative questions when they have the capability to answer with more than a yes/no. I still catch myself asking binary questions and when I do, I stop and reformulate the question in a collaborate format.
An immediate result I found with my kids are they share more information with me than before. I am not just projecting my world onto them with my binary questions, they are projecting their world onto me with their answers to my collaborative questions.
This is a change I am genuinely enjoying as a parent. I feel our relationship is evolving now to a peer relationship instead of an authoratarian relationship.
Next, I share thoughts on this concept applying to jam writing.
