Red Green Repeat Adventures of a Spec Driven Junkie

Toastmasters Adventures: New Home Trade Offs

This is a series on my adventures in a Toastmasters Club.

Negotiating with the restaurant owner did not work out and part of me felt uneasy even if we worked out a solution because:

The owner just put up this request on us out of the blue without any advance notice. If they have a similar request in the future, how do we avoid being in the same situation again??

Part of me knew, the right path forward for the club is finding a new home.

Finding a new club home is an entirely different challenge:

Pros:

  • Change of location, change of pace.
  • Can set relationship properly from start.

Cons:

  • Getting current members to new location (or even day!)
  • No leads for new location.
  • No guarantee of success.

Although the number of cons are more than the pros, setting the relationship with the meeting location and the club is essential for life of the club. This will guarantee a meeting space, even after my time as club president.

We started the journey in finding a new home.
