COVID-19 Work Style Shift
During the COVID-19 pandemic, I suddenly changed my stance for my team to work in the office, from being in office most of the time
I tracked the pandemic news as it emerged from Wuhan, China - the epicenter. I knew to be critical of every thing coming out because it was China.
One thing I did see: the contagion spread quickly.
At that time, my father passed away and I went back home for his funeral. Travel was still unrestricted but the telling sign:
On transit in a major hub, the number of known cases doubled on my return leg of the trip.
I only stayed one night and took the red eye back for the trip. Essentially, in less than 48 hours, the number of known cases in a major hub doubled.
Of course, the number of cases went from one to two - problem was: nobody knew how the first one happened, nor the second one.
For me, I knew for the safety of my team I had to immediately change stance on my team working in the office.
I did not realize how obedient my team was when I told them not to go into the office
