New Manager - Raise and Promotion Request: Lawyer for Team Member

At some point, you will need to go to your boss to satisfy a team member’s request for a raise or promotion. Companies structure themselves this way to protect itself.
If you went to your boss and said:
My team member wants a raise (or promotion).
They are most likely will reply with something like:
What evidence do you have?
In a way, you are a lawyer for your team member to achieve their desire. In this situation, you need to provide work results this team member deserves to have their wish granted.
The better the result, the higher the likelihood your boss will consider granting the wish.
To make the case even stronger for your team member, having consistent results over long periods of time only improve things dramatically.
This simple request will propagate changes beyond your team.
