1% a Day Goes BOTH Ways
My company has a value: Improve 1% per day.
The idea is, if everyone improves 1% per day, over a year, with compounding effects, everyone would improve by:
3800%
1% is small and over a large time frame, has impact when compounded.
James Altucher’s Skip The Line expands on this 1% per day rule to say if you are not improving at 1% per day, you can lose 1% per day!
Instead of gaining a 3800% improvement, you can deteriorate at 3800% by disengaging with skill building.
This is only you in a vacuum. If you consider that everyone else around you: your peers, your competitors, people you don’t know are improving - if you stagnate, not only will you deteriorate at 3800%, those that continuously improve will be greater than 3800% better than you, they will be more than 7600% better.
Find a way to improve 1% every day. It’s a little today and compounds over a year!
